Norway has retained its top position int the market as the number one seller of electric cars as they the country sold almost half of the new cars that were electric over oil producing.

Tesla’s Model 3 was Norway’s top-selling vehicle. In the first 6 months of the year, there was a total of 48.4 percent of new cars sales as compared to the 31.2 percent car sales made in the whole year of 2018. The sale sets Norway as the global leader in per-capita electric car sales by a wide margin.

With a view to stop the sale of petrol and diesel cars in the next five years, Norway has also lifted the heavy taxes imposed on battery driven cars.

Ford and Mercedes have seen a dip in sales as they do not produce electric cars, however they plan to change that soon and have the production started to supply electric cars in Norway by 2020 end. The plan has boosted sales for Tesla, Nissan, Hyundai and BMW which are all producers of fully automatic electric engines. These are amongst the automobile companies who also produce hybrids that use electric motors to drive the car but also have a combustion engine.

Tesla sold 45 percent of electric cars in the first six months which has increased from 30 percent in 2008, making it the top-selling brand in the first six months. The sale of fueled cars has reduced by 29 percent as compared to the last year.

In view to fight the low demand and great investment business dip, Ford plans to cut 12000 jobs in Europe as a part of the cost reducing plan in order to bring up the business profit margin. The business in the European market has shrunk this year for the first time in sic years.

Ford Europe has been losing money for years and pressure to restructure its operations increased after arch-rival General Motors G.M raised profits by selling its European Opel and Vauxhall brands to France’s Peugeot SA. The cuts – almost one in four of the car group’s European workforce – include the closure of Ford’s plant in Bridgend, south Wales, which was revealed this month. The engine plant will close in September 2020 with the loss of 1,700 jobs.

Six of Ford’s 24 European factories will close by the end of 2020 under the plans, including one in Bordeaux, France, and two in Russia and will cut shift at factories in Valencia, Spain and Saarlouis, Germany. The company is also closing its British headquarters in Warley, Essex. 12000 jobs will be affected, around 2,000 of those are fixed salaried positions, which are included among the 7,000 salaried positions Ford is reducing globally.

The average car sold by Ford in Europe last year emitted 123.7g of carbon dioxide per kilometre driven. The challenge of investing in electric, hybrid and autonomous vehicles while having to overhaul combustion engines to meet new clean-air rules, has forced Europe’s carmakers to slash fixed costs and streamline their model portfolios. The auto company bore losses of $398m in 2018 after hiring 51,000 new employees in its European operations.

Paris imposes a ban on older and less efficient cars as a result of increase in the heatwave and air pollution. As the weather condition worsens with predictions of rise in heatwaves Paris has taken a tough call making it the most drastic restriction ever imposed.

Most of France is baking under the sun and to make life more difficult, a peak in pollution linked to the heat has hit the French capital. Nearly five million vehicles registered in the Ile-de-France area around Paris were covered, about 60 percent of total, a record number to be restricted. The pollution problem has prompted the Paris authorities, where temperatures are expected to reach 37C on Wednesday afternoon, to ban the most polluting vehicles from the French capital.

Only those with vehicles registered 0, 1 or 2, as well as people with electric vehicles, will be permitted to drive. Several drivers said they were ignoring the restrictions as the fines were so low; 68 euros ($77) for cars and 135 euros for vans.

In addition to banning certain cars from the Paris region, city authorities also announced free residential parking on Tuesday and Wednesday to encourage motorists to leave their cars at home and use public transport or non-polluting transport. The French authorities have also imposed restrictions on water supply due to the spread of the heatwave.

The rules are said to get stricter going ahead until 2030 when only electric or hydrogen-fueled cars will be permitted on the Paris roads. Authorities said that they will need to face reality which is the increase in air pollution due to the heatwave. Paris will need to take some strict steps to curb air pollution going forward as the climatic condition are not in French favor.

The trailer release of the most awaited Sonic the Hedgehog was not well received mainly because of the scary design of the blue hedgehog. Initially designed to be a lovable Sega mascot battling against antagonist Dr. Eggman, has now turned into a hairy blue bear kind a thing with horrifying human teeth.

It was the response that made director Jeff Fowler start reworking on the design and he made a promise about two days ago to make a better version before the movie releases. The release of Sonic’s look came as quite a shocker to millennial kids who were fanatics of the video games series. Giving Sonic a human inspired look with fur on hands instead of gloves was a spoiler.

Naoto Ohshima the creator of the first Sonic stated that Sonic was the fairy of hedgehogs which is why he does not need to look like a typical hedgehog. Fans of the blue hero, who associate their childhood and probably adulthood too with the character, went all out in expressing their dissatisfaction. They took to social media to comment on the hideous look that perhaps crushed their hopes of seeing the protagonist on big screen.

Nevertheless, Fowler has noted every critical comment and is in the process of making the character the best he can be, according to his response on social media. Sonic the Hedgehog will release on November 7 this year which is why the animators need to step on it to make amends. We can just be hopeful that Sonic will bring back some fond memories again and create new ones once he springs, ramps and loops the big screen.

The Death Star 1PW laser launched in 2014 has been superseded by the new 10-Petawatt laser creation that has been successfully tested. With one tenth energy of the sun on earth, the laser is powerful enough to vaporize matter. The project was developed with a funding of €850 million from the Europeon Commission by the Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) project.

Romanian physicist tested the laser earlier in March which is the most powerful laser ever built. The concept of developing laser was born in mid 2000s by scientists in Europe under the ELI project and three countries that is, Romania, Hungary and Czech Republic became home to the project. Surpassing layman understanding the laser is ten times stronger. It is placed in a sealed chamber traversing through varied vacuum tubes with focusing lenses and resides in a town called Magurele which is at a distance from Bucharest. It is called Extreme Light Infrastructure – Nuclear Physics and is built for the study of photonuclear physics and its application.

The power to vaporize matter, the laser opens new doors for ideas and innovations. With a more practical approach ELI-NP will focus on developing medical research in proton cancer therapy and will also be operational in seeking new methods to handle radioactive waste. How heavy metals are formed and the effects of supernova are also some of the studies that the ELI-NP will be utilized for.

Taking care of power and accuracy the scientists securely operate the device with a help of a computer and track the readings. Technology is a masterpiece of the human brain and needless to say laser technology has reached not only the moon but way beyond.

Customer Service has played a significant role in every business and is likely to dominate another trending one that is the Sharing Economy. Research says that the sharing economy will mostly double to $40 billion by 2022. Companies are trying to keep up with the competing market, that is not much of a struggle only if one key factor is taken care of; Customer Service.

In a sharing economy goods are not owned by an individual but is utilized by everyone in the network, either free of cost or at a fee. Since resources are depleting fast these days, the concept of sharing economy is trending and adapted by giants like Airbnb and Uber.

Good customer service will help companies keep up and stay put in a sharing economy. According to an online study it was found that 86 percent consumers claim that if the customer service is good they are willing to pay extra too; whereas 67 percent have discontinued their association with companies only because of bad customer service. Customers give more importance to customer service than the product or its cost because it makes them feel valued.

With a new biz like sharing economy, customers would probably be on the lookout for new ideas that are effective and efficient. Before availing any of it, the customer would appreciate a complete analysis about the product giving them a detailed description of the features, utility and sustainability. To make this possible; customers would seek for expert advice to match their need.

Providing good customer service and taking timely feedback from customers’ acts as a driving factor in sharing economy. Loyal customers help to build the network that facilitates the growth of a sharing economy. Irrespective of the industry, if a consumer is treated well, he is sure to keep coming back for more.

With the diminishing of hard drive sales every year, this year is not going to be a very good one for hard drive sales. It is suggested that companies that have been in the biz for a very long time, should seek for alternatives to keep their position in the market. The hopes of widening the consumer market for hard drives will drop considerably, says Nidec, Japanese company who has been a long term supplier of hard drives.

The company has reduced its demand number due to the risk of production involved. Nidec is a veteran in the market and one of the leading companies in such manufacturing. Its products are operational in approximately 85 percent of the market products.

With the ongoing decrease in hard disk sales, Nidec saw a 13 percent dip in sales in 2016 as compared to the previous years, which will continue to drop until 2020. Hence the company will gradually avert from hard disk production and accelerate their growth of other areas like brushless DC motors , 5G antennas and home appliances.

With the gradual dwindling of the sales over the last 10 years, Nidec is preparing for the winters well in advance. While hard disk will continue to hold a prominent place as a secondary storage, it will be wise for companies to start spreading their tentacles into divergent production.
